Escape: The Curse of the Temple
Escape: The Curse of the Temple is a fast-paced cooperative game where players must work together to escape a cursed temple before it collapses, leading to everyone's doom. Players need to move quickly and strategically as the game is played in real-time, driven by a dramatic soundtrack that enforces the time element.
How to Play
During the game, players explore the temple to reveal new room tiles, searching for magic gems that will make their escape easier. Here's how the core gameplay works:
- Use dice rolls to move to new tiles, complete challenges, and collect magic gems.
- At specific points in the soundtrack, a countdown begins. Players must return to the safe room before time runs out, or they lose one of their dice.
- Once the exit tile is revealed, players can attempt to escape by moving to the tile and rolling enough blue dice to match the number of remaining magic gems. The fewer gems left in the gem depot, the easier it is to escape.
If all players escape before the third and final countdown, the group wins! However, if even one player fails to escape, everyone loses, regardless of how many players made it out.
Expansion Modules
Escape: The Curse of the Temple includes two optional expansion modules that can be used individually or together for added variety and challenge:
"Treasures" Module
- Some rooms contain treasure chests. Players reveal a chest by rolling the required symbols and claim powerful treasures, such as:
- Key: Teleports you anywhere on the map.
- Path: Connects two rooms that otherwise lack a door.
- Medic Kit: Heals all players, bringing black dice back into play.
"Curses" Module
- Some tiles curse players with rules that make gameplay more challenging, such as:
- Forcing a player to place one hand on their head.
- Requiring a player to stay completely silent.
- Other actions that make escaping the temple even harder!
Winning and Losing
Everyone wins if all players escape the temple before the third countdown ends. However, if any player fails to escape, the entire team loses — no matter how many teammates successfully made it out!
